Changes to the Management Structure of Chevening Estates
24th May 2025
The long-standing Secretary to the Board of Trustees, Alastair Mathewson, will retire at the end of 2025 after nearly 14 years in post.
The Board has concluded that, reflecting developments in country house and land ownership, Chevening should in future be managed by a CEO through a new management structure, and has appointed Richard Reynolds as the first Chief Executive of the Chevening Trust.
To ensure a seamless transition from one management structure to the next, Alastair will now concentrate on the transfer and incorporation of corporate knowledge into the new arrangements.
To facilitate this, with the Board’s agreement, he has handed over responsibility for management issues to a transitional support team led by Jayne West, who can be contacted on jayne.west@cheveninghouse.com. A further announcement will follow in the near future when Richard takes up his appointment.
