Chevening Parish Council

Update from the May 2017 Council meeting

9th May 2017

Following the resignation of Richard Surrey, the council is pleased to welcome (Robbie) Roberta Burgess as a councillor, co-opted at the May PC meeting.

It had been forecast that the 20mph zone signs would be installed by May 10,(hopefully they have been by the time you read this).Apparently staff re-organisation at Kent Highways have contributed to the delay. In complete contrast, loose cobbles in Chipstead High Street, reported at 11.25 were made safe by 2pm the same day!.

The council would like to applaud the public spirited volunteering of Graham Birch for inspecting the footpaths in the parish, Peter Woodruff for acting as flood warden, together with Dick and Hilary Dorward for their work in "speedwatch"

If anyone has time on their hands, and would like to contribute to the well-being of our community, please contact the Parish Clerk.

In order to deter "dangerous" parking at the entrance to Sailing Club Road, there are plans to install cycle racks which will also enable cyclists to safely secure their equipment, whilst enjoying the local environment.

The Parish has in the past, entered the "Britain in Bloom" competition. In order to repeat our successful entry, a new sub-committee will need to be established. Please direct any interest to the Parish Clerk.

The council will also be pleased to receive any feedback following April's annual meeting.
